Services / AGA Cooker Electric Conversions – ElectricKit

NEW FOR 2024 – For existing ElectricKit owners we can offer an upgrade service to the very latest specification with improved hot plate thermostat arrangement, extra elements above the top oven and a ‘boost’ element below the bottom oven giving you the flexibility of two ovens that can both reach 250c. For anyone who wants to heat quickly and save electricity consumption and cost, an induction hob upgrade is also now available for retrofitting to the left-hand hot plate.

With today’s world of increasing energy costs, differing styles of living and ecological considerations there is a real demand to change a traditional ‘on all the time’ range cooker appliance into something altogether more adaptable. The ElectricKit conversion kit is a method of achieving this.

The ElectricKit conversion produced by Oilwarm in Devon is now available to convert pretty much all types of traditional heat storage ‘on all the time’ AGA cookers. The kit was originally launched in the autumn of 2012 and has now more than ever been an excellent decision to consider when looking at future options for your heat storage AGA. O’Briens attended the launch and installed kit serial number 0008 into a two oven AGA cooker which is still running on that original kit today. Now with serial numbers up into the 5000s and beyond it has unquestionably been a successful product and has given new lives to many AGA cookers.

In short, the conversion changes the way in which the heat you cook is delivered to the surface or area you are cooking with. Instead of the traditional layout, of one heat source heating all the castings as in a traditional AGA, the kit houses heating elements underneath the hot pates and directly above and below the ovens. Consequently, the heat is concentrated to the area you’re cooking with. Separate from one another the hot plates and ovens are fully controllable. You decide what temperature the areas are and how they are used. This allows you to cook in a far more controllable way than with a traditional heat storage AGA. The new level of control allows you to use the AGA in a much more ‘seasonal’ way – traditionally with areas turned on and then off when required in the warmer months and then left on continually when colder for more background heat. It is at heart a very different way of cooking on an AGA cooker but opens up new ways of using the appliance especially throughout the whole year. The kit will still produce background heat when fully up to temperature but does not emulate the same levels of heat given out by a traditional say for example oil-fired AGA cooker.

Main benefits:

  • A cooker ‘for all seasons’ the ElectricKit has infinite flexibility and can adapt itself to suit the particular owner and their requirements.
  • Separately heated cooking areas allow unlimited use of the hot plates without affecting oven temperature.
  • Potential significant running cost savings over traditional heat storage models.
  • Digital display with a live reading of the top oven temperature for cooking accuracy.
  • Internal Wi-Fi switching on the ‘ElectricKit Classic’ and the soon to be released ‘ElectricKit Advanced’ option.
  • No servicing/maintenance requirements.
  • A proven track record of reliability.
  • The optional induction hob is a real game changer adding even more capabilities to the cooker.
